Before October 7th, Palestine’s tech ecosystem was flourishing. It housed thousands of specialist outsourcing companies, freelancers, and early-stage startups, making it a vital industry providing dignified livelihoods. Many individuals made a living monetizing their skills online in areas such as tech services, programming, design, marketing, financial services, and administration.
However, recent events have drastically changed this landscape. The devastation and loss of life are overwhelming, making it challenging to discuss solutions and rebuilding efforts—but we must. Technology will be key to reviving the Gazan and Palestinian economy once a permanent ceasefire is achieved.
In this report, we interviewed twenty-eight tech ecosystem players, businesses, and freelancers who shared their insights on the necessary interventions to revive Gaza. We use the term “revive” because the talent, capabilities, and determination are already present.
