Mohammad Shebly, a 32-year-old graduate of business administration from Annjah University in Nablus, Palestine, has emerged as a shining success story. With 10 years of experience in the banking industry, Mohammad’s journey took a significant turn after he realized his true passion for technology.

After completing his university education, Mohammad secured a job at a regional bank, which provided him with stability but left him yearning for more. Witnessing the success of his friends in the tech industry, particularly one friend who worked at Upwork, fueled Mohammad’s desire to explore his own potential in the field.

Although Mohammad initially pursued studies in IT during his first year at the university, he ultimately switched to business. However, his love for technology remained steadfast, leading him to independently learn programming languages such as JavaScript and HTML. Recognizing the importance of continuous self-improvement, Mohammad also dedicated himself to taking business courses alongside his banking career. Nevertheless, he felt there was limited room for growth within his current role.

 

From Banking to Tech: Mohammad Shelby's Journey of Passion and Ambition!

 

In October 2022, Mohammad made a courageous decision to leave his job and fully devote his time to pursuing his passion. Balancing his studies in front-end development and the AWS cloud computing course with Gaza Sky Geeks and SPARK, Mohammad faced immense pressure while trying to make ends meet. However, his determination remained unshaken.

 

Mohammad received news from a friend about an upcoming internship opportunity at Foothill, a prominent company in Nablus. This internship had the potential to lead to a full-time position, providing him with a much-needed source of income for his growing family.  While also getting accepted in the REACT training program with Gaza Sky Geeks, but he chooses the internship for the above-mentioned reasons.

Out of 700 applicants, only 12 were selected for the Foothill internship, and Mohammad was among the chosen few. Despite the challenges of being a married individual with a toddler and a newborn, Mohammad took the leap, leaving his stable banking career behind to pursue his passion.

As Mohammad nears the completion of his internship at Foothill, he eagerly awaits the opportunity to be offered a permanent position. Beyond this, Mohammad dreams of launching his own startup, combining his extensive banking experience with his newfound tech skills.

Mohammad’s story is one of determination, sacrifice, and the pursuit of one’s passion. Through his courageous decision to follow his dreams, he has shown that it is never too late to embark on a new path and achieve remarkable accomplishments.
