Integrated activities with our trainings

Employability Upskilling For Training Participants

We provide up to 5-12 Employability sessions to our tech training participants. The main goal is to prepare them for jobs with employability plans, customized for each training, based on participants’ skill level and the design and structure of the training they are participating in. Once participants graduate from their technical training courses, they move to 1-2 week job readiness where each participant goes through a mocking interview. Employability Topics Include:

Standalone Program

English for techies Training.

English language ability has been identified as a key bottleneck that hinders the participation of technically qualified candidates. In December 2018, GSG started helping technically skilled individuals to overcome the English barrier by implementing the first English training cohort.

What will you learn from the program?

A 50- 60 hr intensive tailored training, focused on the tech and freelancing sector. It’s a 9- 10 week training of 6 hr a week and is divided into two phases: The first phase is 10-20hr of learning Basics of English and the second one is 40hr of learning “Business English” that focuses on the language and skills needed to improve communication and negotiation skills, and master useful business and freelancing terminologies.. This 40 hr course, called “English for Freelancers” is hosted on the Edapp platform and is co-created by Gaza Sky Geeks and British council.

It is designed for adults with an intermediate level of English. It has 12 modules, each module includes three short lessons and a bonus lesson for review and extra practice. It covers various topics like negotiating, collaborating, troubleshooting problems and issues, and upskilling.

“English for Freelancers” is also a self-study course, available to anyone, anywhere in the world on the platform EdApp.

First Phase: Basics of English “10- 20 hr”

During this phase, we aim at giving more English language hours in terms of grammar, vocabs and writing. Participants will be provided with useful terms and phrases. They will also gain knowledge regarding correct sentence structure and the correct use of tenses as well.

Second Phase: Business English “40 hr”

During this phase, Participants will be familiar with job-ready situations e.g. interviews, negotiating deadlines and pay.

They will have an awareness of useful phrases and appropriacy of language in the business context.

Eligibility criteria

Technical Qualification

Applicants should possess technical skills, along with previous work experience or a portfolio to showcase their skills and abilities as the program focuses on boosting techies ‘ overall confidence when communicating in English.

Basic English Language Skills

Applicants should have the basics of the English language, including knowledge of vocabulary words, ability to speak simple phrases or sentences; elementary reading and writing skills. This is essential for participating in the program effectively.

Motivation and Passion

Applicants should demonstrate motivation and passion to enhance their English language skills.

Commitment

Applicants should be willing to commit to both teaching hours and assignments of the course.

Note

Technical skills individuals with translation skills are NOT accepted into the program. The program specifically targets individuals who want to improve their English language and negotiation skills, rather than those who already possess strong English translation skills.
